EB5 Capital Celebrates the Grand Opening of Gateway at Millbrae Station (JF27)

Today, EB5 Capital joins Huntington Hotel Group and Republic Urban Properties in celebrating the grand opening of Gateway at Millbrae Station in Millbrae, a city just west of the San Francisco Bay, in San Mateo County, California. Gateway at Millbrae Station is a 17-acre $300 million mixed-use master development containing 400 apartment units and 200,000 square feet of commercial space. In 2020, EB5 Capital provided a $36 million preferred equity investment in the 164-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel located on the site.

“We are thrilled to be part of this significant development in Millbrae, adjacent to the San Francisco Airport and Bay Area Rapid Transit (“BART”) station,” said Jon Mullen, EB5 Capital’s Senior Vice President of Investments. “It is a terrific transit-oriented site which is easily accessible to the entire Bay Area, making it a key location for a hotel.” A sufficient number of jobs have been created through the project’s development to satisfy the permanent residency requirement for all the EB-5 investors who invested in the project.

The Residence Inn at Gateway at Millbrae Station is one of EB5 Capital’s eight projects in the state of California and one of six partnerships structured with Huntington Hotel Group. The hotel welcomed its first guests in February of this year, and today’s grand opening represents a major milestone in EB5 Capital’s growing portfolio of over 30 completed EB-5 projects across the country.

EB5 Capital Responds to Devastating Earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria

Our team is deeply saddened, and our hearts go out to all those affected by the 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that rocked southeastern Türkiye and northwestern Syria on February 6, 2023.

EB5 Capital has donated funds to AKUT Search and Rescue Association and World Central Kitchen (WCK) in response to this devastating disaster. AKUT is Türkiye’s first search and rescue association founded by a group of mountain climbers in 1996. The funds will help purchase heavy machinery and medical equipment to support AKUT’s on-the-ground search and rescue efforts. Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, WCK’s Relief Team is distributing meals for survivors and first responders in the region. The organization has served more than 60 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world.

If any of our international investors, attorneys, and other EB-5 stakeholders want to provide relief in a meaningful and effective way, our Turkish Director of Investor Relations, Elif Egeli Izmiri, who is based in Izmir, Türkiye, can provide guidance on which local groups are involved in the relief effort. Please contact Elif at eegeli@eb5capital.com. We stand with the people of Türkiye and Syria.

Lulu Gordon Co-Chairs IIUSA’s Public Policy Committee

EB5 Capital proudly announces that General Counsel Lulu Gordon will Co-Chair IIUSA’s Public Policy Committee. IIUSA’s Public Policy Committee considers EB-5 policy developments to recommend policy positions and strategic advocacy to the IIUSA Board of Directors. Lulu and her Co-Chair, Carolyn Lee, of Carolyn Lee PLLC are both EB-5 industry veterans and authorities on EB-5 law and policy. Lulu has served as EB5 Capital’s General Counsel for eight years and handles all government affairs and policy litigation for the company, including the most recent litigation overturning USCIS’ decision to deauthorize all regional centers. She has been an active member of the IIUSA policy committee and IIUSA leadership and worked extensively on legislative drafting and the passage of EB-5 legislation.

“We are at a critical and exciting juncture in the EB-5 Program’s history,” says Lulu. “Without a looming year-end lapse of the program, we can focus our attention on implementing the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act of 2022 and on long-term policies and stakeholder partnerships that will create a thriving and integrous post-RIA EB-5 ecosystem. I am honored to have this opportunity to continue to serve the EB-5 community, and I look forward to working closely with Carolyn, the IIUSA team, Board, and Leadership.”
